Why is flood water so destructive?

Flood Water is Contaminated Water

When the rains start to cause flooding the water that comes into your home is not clean. Some of the contaminates from flood water are these:

• Lawn fertilizer
• Contamination from storm drains
• Oil and gasoline from roadways
• Feces from domesticated pets
• Bacteria from turned over garbage

Because of all the different contaminates that could be found in flood water it is too risky to try and clean carpets and pads from a home. It is healthier for the home to have the material that soaks up water removed. The rest of the materials are disinfected and dried to be built over again.
